Alana Morris at Work
Associate AIA
Project Manager | Marketing Manager
Alana joined the JDM team on November 1, 2019 after spending several years working at a couple of local firms that specialized in Community, Higher Education, Healthcare, and Commercial project types. Alana’s previous experience included utilizing BIM technologies to generating Construction Documents Drawings; but she was also well versed in executing field verifications, code research, QA/QC reviews, construction administration, and generating contracts with consultants and clients.
Her ability to identify risk, implement pro-active mitigation measures, and lead the team through all phases of design development are impressive and a joy to watch. She is also our internal Marketing Manager – which allows her to dove-tail our ongoing project activities with a more direct, strategic approach to identifying new client relationships and project opportunities. These activities in turn inform her efforts to serve our current projects, as she takes the feedback on what potential clients are looking for and implements this feedback into our current project execution model in real time.
Loveable but Fierce:
A TSU Tiger
Since joining the JDM team, Alana has fearlessly stepped into a new role of leadership – becoming a talented and formidable Project Manager. Knowing that Alana was an interior player with Tennessee State’s Women’s Basketball team (Go Lady Tigers!) in college makes complete sense when you see her jump head-long into an issue on a project and mix it up with fearless abandon and ferocity. Having played in premiere venues like Pat Summit Court against top competition like the Lady Volunteers of Tennessee explains why pressure never gets to Alana, and that she never shrinks from the moment. So watch for those elbows, boys – underestimate her at your own peril!
Alana is an active member in her community as well, helping her church on several initiatives and also participating in volunteer work with Habitat for Humanity. Family is her most cherished commitment though, as she spends much of her free time watching and playing with her God-Son or supporting her Mom’s event planning business. So if you have a wedding, birthday, or reveal party to plan for – shoot her an email! On a personal note – the JDM team is incredibly proud of Alana’s growth with our team, and we are very impressed with the work she’s been able to do while enrolling in Boston Architectural College (BAC) Masters in Architecture Degree Program. This path will complement her BS in Architectural Engineering degree in a manner that puts her on the path to being a potential dual-threat as a registered Architect AND a registered Engineer!
